Masked Marauder Posted August 28, 2005 Report Posted August 28, 2005 The power to the positive side will be wired in reverse. Don't know what else as mine had a bodged set of ISO connectors fitted that by-pass the Ford Amplifier. Quote
steve67car Posted August 28, 2005 Report Posted August 28, 2005 tipical short sighted :D no disrespect to you but think logically where do you go if it goes wrong ? also think staff rent overheads legal shop/company that pays vat, tax ,profit tax ,paye also people like me and halfrauds will still be here in 3-6 months :D also internet type companys rely on retro cash back from manufacters for their profit/wages and most buy their stock with your money after you pay by card then there the fraud side where can your card details go ?yes theres card protection but it takes time and hassle to sort but the upside is you save money but the hassle when/if it dont work or graded or at worse dont turn up[ lost or stolenin transit ] Quote

I've had no problems with internet buying in 15 years, and no problems at all with Ebuyer. Also AFAIK, Ebuyer have gone back to a telephone support line for any problems. At half the Halfords price, if something does go wrong you can always buy another :D I can't imagine that installation would be more than 10 minutes either Quote
steve67car Posted August 28, 2005 Report Posted August 28, 2005 not doom and gloom just tring to explain the price differancealso my rent is Quote
Ogben Schmutzel Posted August 28, 2005 Author Report Posted August 28, 2005 Steve, I do understand the overhead issue and I would be quite happy to pay 20% or even 30% more to purchase locally but !00%, no way. If that is what the 'high street'has to offer the they had better look out IHMO!! I don't know exactly what your position is but I am guessing that competing with 'the net' is an issue?? Regards.Oggy. Quote
steve67car Posted August 28, 2005 Report Posted August 28, 2005  just a bit but with out checking the model of radio you are after i cannot reply to the % issue but i general i can and do better halfrauds price by on average 20-25% excluding there specials they do to get you in a buy that other stuff you did not need til you went in so to speak :D Quote
steve67car Posted August 28, 2005 Report Posted August 28, 2005 by the time you add vat plus carrage its a shade under Quote
Masked Marauder Posted August 29, 2005 Report Posted August 29, 2005 Where is your shop Steve? I remember seeing a modded shalaxy outside an car audio shop just outside the town center when I was looking for an Aux In lead for my Blaupunkt. Quote
_dg Posted August 29, 2005 Report Posted August 29, 2005 Probably going OT, but I know of, and see more and more people only visiting bricks amd mortar shops in order to physically see products, and then going home and ordering them off the net at a major cost saving. It may mean the demise of the smaller retail outlets in the future, and only the likes of Hafords, Dixons, Currys etc will remain. It has been years since I made any significant purchase from a shop as opposed to online - in fact I recently orderd some iso cables, connections and nuts and bolts on line too - all next day delivery and no wasted time having to drive into town. steve67car Posted August 29, 2005 Report Posted August 29, 2005  prob mine but we have moved due to the lack of parking and the fact the land lord can only see the property being turned in to flats like the other three commercal buildings have or are being done as for dg statment you aint alone on that one alot of people do order every thing on line but look at it an other way what happens when your job goes online [if thats possible]or worse china or some other far eastern rice bowl country where wages equal nothing but slavery then what see my point is every one moans look at the state of the country but look how we live if we dont support small local companies and the like where will we all stand in the not to distant future :( Quote
Bigjeeze Posted August 29, 2005 Report Posted August 29, 2005 Without making this a personal issue - you do have a long long way to go to convince me that small business should be supported when they don't support you. High prices huge margins and poor service are not only coming from Halfords and the like. If you give a better service and a better price you will get the business -never mind the web. It seems to me that too many small business feel that they are owed a living - and that because they have risked all and invested - possibly their home - they feel they should get rich quick. Quality & service with a good price are all I ever want. I have had no problems buying from the web - I buy from Ebuyer and many others - so far no problem and as has been said even if the service dropped - at half price you can afford to buy a spare!! Ogben Schmutzel Posted August 29, 2005 Author Report Posted August 29, 2005 I think the jury is still out on who is going to survive this There is still time for the high street shops to get their act in order but whether they can with their massive overheads is going to be the test. Also I don Quote
